(The most important breakthrough in algae cultivation)
I have been in the algae culture industry for over a quarter of a century, but I have never come across the term "continuous culture."
It is extremely difficult, and as far as I know, there are no culture operators or culture systems that have succeeded in this.
Our culture equipment has already succeeded in continuous culture throughout the year.
"Continuous culture for a year"... This is something that probably even our competitors would not believe, and I probably would not have believed it when I was engaged in outdoor culture.
And when continuous culture actually becomes possible over a long period of time, new and vast fields that were not visible before will become visible, even if you are working on the same algae culture business.
Is this phenomenon generally called a breakthrough?
I will tell you again what new possibilities and business fields will become visible, but here I would like to present an important indicator in the world of algae culture.
It is an evaluation criterion that will serve as a guide for evaluating the wide variety of culture systems that are being proposed for companies that are considering introducing algae culture as a new business in the future.
An essential and absolute condition for making an algae cultivation business viable as a business is whether or not the system is capable of continuous cultivation.
To call it continuous cultivation, for example, when the culture concentration inside the device reaches its maximum level, half of the algae is harvested and only the culture medium is added. The remaining half of the algae then undergoes cell division once again, returning the culture concentration to the original level. At that stage, half of the algae is harvested again, and this process is repeated every few days indefinitely.
And the amount of algae biomass obtained during harvesting does not decrease, no matter how many times it is harvested.
This is the ultimate continuous cultivation.
